Rawalpindi’s police force has taken a firm stance on motorcycle safety, recently prohibiting gas station owners from serving fuel to riders who are not wearing helmets.
This strict policy, extending throughout the Punjab region with a zero-tolerance approach, aims to promote road safety and reduce the risk of head injuries in accidents.
Both the district administration and law enforcement officials emphasize the life-saving importance of helmets. Even minor accidents can result in fatal head injuries, making adherence to this law crucial for every rider’s safety.
Taimur Khan, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Rawalpindi, believes that this initiative will raise awareness about the necessity of helmets in preserving lives. He advises all citizens to wear helmets and carry identification as responsible, law-abiding members of society.
Heated Debate on Miss Universe
To enforce the helmet rule, police authorities are conducting covert surveillance operations. Violating the helmet law will carry severe consequences, both on the road and at petrol stations. In the last 24 hours alone, a staggering 1604 motorcyclists have received challans for failing to wear helmets.
Fuel station owners have also embraced this directive, enforcing it rigorously. They are not providing petrol even to government employees who do not wear helmets, demonstrating their complete commitment to the administration’s decree.
