The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has imposed a new travel restriction on passengers travelling abroad and directed to mandatory check their polio vaccination cards.
As per the directive, all airlines’ administrations are now mandated to check passengers’ polio vaccination cards before departure.
This new directive applies to all airports and airlines, making it essential for travelers to ensure their polio vaccination cards are up-to-date before embarking on international journeys. Passengers are advised to possess valid and updated online polio cards while traveling abroad.
The CAA also stresses the importance of obtaining updated polio vaccination cards once their existing ones have expired. This move is aimed at further fortifying the efforts to combat the spread of polio and promote global health.
To comply with the latest guidelines, NADRA authorities have issued instructions to airports nationwide, including Karachi, to verify the polio cards of outbound passengers.
The passengers intending to travel abroad must ensure they carry their updated online polio vaccination cards, as the old polio cards issued by NADRA have now expired.
Obtaining the updated online polio card has become mandatory for all travellers to meet the current requirements.
In a related decision made earlier in June, the CAA had lifted the requirements for passengers to present COVID-19 vaccination certificates and negative PCR test reports while traveling to and from Pakistan. Furthermore, the 2% screening condition for COVID-19, previously applicable to passengers arriving from the UK, Gulf, and other countries, has also been abolished.
With these measures in place, the CAA aims to enhance public health and safety during international travel while addressing the ongoing challenges posed by infectious diseases.
