Apple has introduced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display, marking a major change in the company’s laptop lineup after years of avoiding touchscreen technology on Mac computers.
The new MacBook Pro, unveiled on October 28, 2026, comes in 14-inch and 16-inch models and features Apple’s PROLED XDR display technology. The redesigned laptops are powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, offering improved performance for professional users, including designers, video editors and content creators.
According to technology publication Digital Trends, the 14-inch model starts at $2,899 in the United States, while the 16-inch version begins at $3,399. The prices make the new models among the most expensive MacBook Pro releases, reflecting the company’s focus on premium features and professional computing.
The introduction of touchscreen technology represents a significant shift in Apple’s approach to laptop design. The company had traditionally maintained that touchscreens were better suited to tablets and smartphones rather than conventional laptops.
The new models also introduce Dynamic Island to Mac computers for the first time. The feature provides access to notifications, Live Activities, Spotlight search and Siri through an interactive display area.
Apple has also redesigned the laptops to make them thinner and lighter. The 14-inch model weighs approximately three pounds, while the 16-inch version weighs around four pounds. The company has additionally improved the cooling system to maintain performance during demanding tasks.
Other features include an advanced six-speaker audio system, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and support for multiple external displays. The laptops also offer enhanced capabilities for creative applications, including video editing, music production and graphic design.
According to Apple’s official announcement, pre-orders began on October 28, with the new MacBook Pro models scheduled to become available from November 6, 2026.
The launch marks an important development in Apple’s computer strategy, bringing touchscreen interaction and OLED technology to its professional laptop range while expanding competition in the premium laptop market.
