Four family members, including two young children, were killed inside their Skardu home, as police investigate a suspected honour-related motive and search for those responsible

Four members of a family, including two young children, were killed inside their home near Madina Colony in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, in a suspected honour-related killing. Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
The victims were identified as 35-year-old Aslam, his 30-year-old wife, Hania, their four-year-old son, Mehdi, and their two-year-old daughter, Dua Zehra, according to a Gilgit-Baltistan police spokesperson.
Initial reports indicate that the family was attacked inside their home on Thursday night. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Baltistan Arif Mohmand said the victims were killed with a sharp-edged weapon, which police recovered on Friday morning.
Aslam belonged to Talobarq in Skardu’s Roundu Valley, while Hania was originally from Parachinar. The couple had married in Karachi several years ago before settling in Skardu with their children.
Police said the family had no known hostility with anyone. However, investigators suspect that Hania’s relatives might have been involved in the killings. The alleged involvement of any individual has not been established, and authorities are examining different aspects of the case to determine the actual motive.
Following the incident, police established checkpoints at Skardu’s entry and exit points to help trace the suspects. The Gilgit-Baltistan Inspector General of Police directed the Baltistan Regional Police Officer to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible and ensure their arrest.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister expressed grief over the deaths, describing the incident as extremely tragic. He also sought a detailed report from the police chief and directed authorities to use all available resources to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, relatives of the victims staged a sit-in in Skardu’s Gamaba area, blocking a road to demand the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have yet to establish the motive or confirm the identities of the perpetrators.
