Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that negotiations with the United States cannot make progress unless Washington accepts Iran’s seven conditions, stressing that Tehran will not move forward without its demands being met.
In a statement shared on social media, Qalibaf said Iran was reviewing a letter sent by the United States. However, he maintained that accepting Tehran’s seven conditions was essential for any progress in talks with Washington.
He said Iran had repeatedly communicated its conditions to mediators and that the United States was already aware of these demands.
Qalibaf also warned that policies aimed at pressuring or enticing Iran would have no effect. According to his statement, Tehran remains firm on its conditions for negotiations with Washington, and meaningful progress in talks is impossible without meeting those demands.
Iran has previously presented several demands for ending the war and pursuing negotiations with the United States. These include ending the naval blockade, restoring frozen Iranian assets held abroad, and ending Israel’s war in Lebanon.
Tehran maintains that its demands must be accepted for negotiations with Washington to move forward. Iranian leaders have also stressed that pressure will not force the country to abandon its position.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran remained in continuous contact with mediators to implement its seven-day plan and was reviewing proposals that could make its implementation possible in less than a week.
Araghchi said Iran was giving diplomacy another opportunity to succeed and continued to seek solutions to outstanding issues through negotiations.
