Social media was spreading the news of the death of PTI leader from Punjab, Mian Mehmood Ur Rasheed, with unverified reports claiming that he had passed away while in jail.
However, jail authorities stepped in to debunk the death hoax and clarified the situation. They confirmed that the seasoned politician is currently held at Lahore District Jail and is in good health. To address any concerns, Rasheed was temporarily taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) for an ECG test, following approval from the Punjab government.
After the medical tests, the PTI leader was promptly returned to jail on the same day. The officials assured that Mehmood Ur Rasheed is receiving all necessary medical facilities in accordance with the law.
The jail authorities also urged the public to refrain from believing in baseless rumors and advised them to seek updates from official sources.
Amidst these rumors, Imran Khan, the Prime Minister, shared a tweet asserting that Mian Mehmood had experienced severe chest pains in jail, leading to his transfer to the hospital. Despite doctors’ advice to keep him under observation, he was allegedly forced back to jail.
Khan further claimed that his close aide is facing such mistreatment and inhumane behavior solely due to his refusal to renounce PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf).
