Saudi authorities report 309 injured, some in critical condition
Riyadh/Dubai, October 11, 2026: An Egyptian flight attendant with Saudi carrier flynas is reported to be among the 12 people killed in Saturday’s attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Egyptian media named her as Azza Ramzi Mohamed Hassan, 28, and said she died of severe injuries sustained in the attack. Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) did not name her in its official statement, and her identity and employer have so far been reported only by media outlets.
Casualty figures
GACA said four Saudi citizens and eight foreign residents were killed. Among the foreign victims were two Bangladeshis and one person each from Egypt, the United States, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan. A further 309 people were injured, and several remain in critical condition in hospitals.
Airport disruption
The strike hit the airport on Saturday afternoon, causing casualties and damage to property. Operations were temporarily suspended while officials assessed the damage and checked the safety of the facilities, and the attack caused widespread flight disruption. Authorities are still working to determine the full extent of the damage.
Coalition response
The Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen condemned the attack and accused the Houthi group of carrying out a terrorist attack on civilian infrastructure. Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al Maliki called it a war crime under international humanitarian law and promised a firm response in line with the rules of armed conflict.
The attack followed earlier strikes on Riyadh airport and a Saudia aircraft, which had also caused deaths and injuries. The latest incident has added to concerns about the safety of civilian aviation in the region.
