Heavy rain lashed several cities across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with hailstorms also reported in some areas. A rain emergency has been declared in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following torrential rainfall.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Karak, Mianwali and Dunyapur received heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, causing water to accumulate in low-lying areas. Rain was also reported in Jhang, Chashma, Darya Khan, Kacha Gujrat, Pailan and surrounding areas.
In Kundian, rainwater entered homes, while streets and neighbourhoods were flooded.
The rainfall also disrupted electricity supplies in several areas after feeders tripped, causing inconvenience to residents.
According to the Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), a rain emergency has been declared in Rawalpindi due to the heavy rainfall. All field officers have been mobilised, while WASA staff and heavy machinery have been deployed in low-lying areas.
Officials said the water flow in Nullah Lai remains normal. Water levels were recorded at 5 feet at Katarrian and 2 feet at the Gawalmandi Bridge.
