Shah Rukh Khan says he is not worried about ‘King’ facing major Hollywood releases, joking that his film is the “tasty tikki” at the center of the December box-office sandwich.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has dismissed concerns that his upcoming film ‘King’ faces stiff competition from major Hollywood releases, using his trademark humor to suggest he is confident the film can hold its own at the box office.
During his latest #AskSRK session on X on Tuesday, a fan asked Khan whether the release date of ‘King’ could be changed because the film is scheduled to arrive around the same period as Hollywood blockbusters ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’.
Khan replied that he was not concerned about the clash.
“Not at all….Baaki bread pieces ka bhi toh socho….hum toh center ki tasty Tikki hain,” he wrote, describing ‘King’ as the tasty filling at the center of a sandwich rather than something squeezed between bigger releases.
The response effectively put to rest speculation that ‘King’ could be postponed because of the crowded Christmas release window. The film remains scheduled to reach cinemas on Dec. 24, 2026.
Shah Rukh Khan reveals injuries during ‘King’ shoot
The actor also gave fans an update on the physically demanding production.
Khan revealed that he suffered several injuries while shooting the film, forcing the production to stop and restart on multiple occasions. He said he has now recovered and that the film is nearly complete.
The update comes as anticipation around ‘King’ continues to build, with fans also waiting for its trailer and music.
Asked why the trailer has taken so long, Khan indicated that the team is taking time to ensure the material meets its expectations rather than deliberately keeping audiences waiting. He suggested that promotional material would arrive before the Dec. 24 release.
‘Everything in King’ is what excites him
Another fan asked Khan what aspect of ‘King’ he was most excited for audiences to see.
Rather than selecting a particular sequence or performance, the actor said he wanted viewers to enjoy the film as a whole. He highlighted the action, songs and cast — and, with his characteristic humor, even mentioned his hair.
Khan has also indicated that considerable work is still going into the film’s visual effects. He said he has been closely involved in the VFX process as the team works toward delivering the final product.
A major Christmas test for ‘King’
Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026. The film features Khan alongside Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and other actors.
Its Christmas release places it in direct competition for audience attention during one of the busiest periods on the international box-office calendar.
But Khan’s response suggests that the competition is not changing his strategy.
For now, the message from Bollywood’s superstar is clear: ‘King’ is staying on Dec. 24 — and Shah Rukh Khan appears more interested in making his film stand out than in worrying about who else is opening alongside it.
