The Pakistan Cricket Board’s wave of changes shows no signs of slowing down. Following the Test team captain, the Test team’s head coach is also reportedly set to be replaced.
According to reports, white-ball team head coach Mike Hesson, who initially travelled to London with High Performance Director Aaqib Javed for a dinner hosted by King Charles, is now expected to take over Test team affairs following Pakistan’s 194-run defeat in the Lord’s Test.
Initial reports suggest that the PCB has asked Mike Hesson to oversee the Test team as well. He is also expected to join the national Test squad for the third and final Test at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, starting on September 9, and will reportedly be present in the dressing room.
As a result, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s future as the Red Ball team’s head coach is facing serious uncertainty.
There is a strong possibility that, after taking charge of the ODI and T20I teams, Mike Hesson will also begin handling the Test team. Sarfaraz Ahmed could reportedly be removed from his Test coaching role after the England tour.
