PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari are reportedly in Vienna for talks with an Austrian family over Bilawal’s possible engagement and marriage.
A trusted PPP source told media that the two have met the prospective bride’s family three times since arriving in Austria three days ago. They are expected to travel to the UK and stay there for around 10 days, with members of the bride’s family also expected to join them.
Reports have linked the prospective bride to the former Austrian royal family, the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, and the family of Austria’s last emperor, Charles I. The source said the marriage could take place in Vienna later this year and that Bilawal and the prospective bride have known each other for several years.
The Presidency confirmed on August 27 that President Zardari had left for a private foreign trip but did not disclose its purpose.
However, Karachi Mayor and PPP leader Murtaza Wahab denied reports of Bilawal’s engagement and marriage, calling the speculation circulating in the media and on social media false.
Neither the Bhutto-Zardari family nor the PPP has officially announced any engagement or marriage.
