Peshawar : Woman Killed by Husband on Alleged Family Instigation, Four Arrested
A woman and mother of young children was allegedly shot dead in broad daylight on a public road in Peshawar by her husband, reportedly at the instigation of his family members.
Police said a team led by SP City Division Shahid Adnan, under the supervision of DSP Hashtnagri Circle Waris Khan, traced and arrested all suspects within a few hours of the incident.
The arrested suspect, Zohaib son of Arshad Hussain, allegedly opened fire on his wife within the jurisdiction of Shaheed Gulfat Hussain Police Station near Rampura Gate, killing her on the spot.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and shifted the victim’s body to a hospital for post-mortem examination. A case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father, Najam Iqbal son of Iqbal, against her husband and other family members, and an investigation was launched.
Taking strict notice of the incident, SP Shahid Adnan formed a special police team to arrest those involved and determine the facts surrounding the killing.
Under the supervision of DSP Waris Khan, SHO Shaheed Gulfat Hussain Police Station Saleem Khan Khalil, along with other personnel, carried out a successful operation and arrested all four suspects within hours. The suspects include the victim’s husband Zohaib, his brother Zubair, his sister identified as (A), and his mother identified as (Z).
According to police, the husband allegedly confessed to killing his wife at the instigation of his mother, brother and sister. In his preliminary statement, he reportedly described the killing as an alleged “honour” crime, claiming that his wife was a “party girl.”
Police have taken the alleged murder weapon and the vehicle used in the incident into custody. Further investigation is underway.
