Makers Target Historic Music Rights Agreement
The makers of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, are aiming to secure the biggest music rights deal ever for a Hindi film. After finalizing major theatrical and international distribution partnerships, the production team is now focusing on selling the film’s global music rights for a reported Rs. 100 crore.
The ambitious target reflects the enormous expectations surrounding the film, which is already considered one of Bollywood’s biggest upcoming releases.
Top Music Labels Join the Bidding Race
Several leading music companies are reportedly competing for the rights, including Sony Music, T-Series, Saregama and Universal Music. Industry reports suggest Sony Music has submitted the highest offer so far at around Rs. 70 crore, while T-Series has reportedly offered approximately Rs. 60 crore.
However, producer Namit Malhotra is believed to be holding out for an amount much closer to his Rs. 100 crore target before finalizing the agreement.
Music Expected to Be a Major Attraction
One of the film’s biggest strengths is its soundtrack, composed by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer alongside legendary Indian musician A.R. Rahman. Their collaboration has significantly increased industry expectations, making the music one of the film’s biggest selling points even before release.
If completed, the deal would comfortably surpass the previous record for a Hindi film’s music rights.
Massive Release Plans Continue
The production has already secured key distribution partnerships for domestic and overseas markets, while a large marketing campaign is also being planned ahead of release. The makers are reportedly looking to recover a substantial portion of the film’s investment through non-theatrical rights before it reaches cinemas.
Although the trailer has been delayed, Ramayana: Part One remains on track for a grand Diwali 2026 release. With record-breaking business deals already making headlines, the film continues to strengthen its position as one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases in recent years.
