Lahore: A major search operation is underway after three children reportedly went missing in separate drowning incidents in the Ravi River in Lahore on Friday.
According to Rescue 1122, two children, believed to be between 9 and 10 years old, were reported missing near Band Road. Initial reports suggested they fell into the river while crossing a bridge, prompting rescue teams to launch an immediate search operation.
In a separate incident near Shahdara Saggian, a 9-year-old boy, identified as Ali Hamza, reportedly drowned while bathing in the Ravi River. Rescue officials said the strong water current has made search efforts difficult.
Rescue 1122 teams, assisted by Safe City Authority personnel using thermal cameras, are continuing the operation to locate the missing children. Police officials, including the ASP Shahdara, SHO Khurram Shehzad, and local authorities, remain present at the scene alongside rescue teams.
However, SP City Atif Ameer clarified that reports claiming two children fell into the river while crossing a bridge were inaccurate. He said police and rescue teams responded immediately after receiving a call on the emergency helpline (15) from the families of the missing children.
Authorities said the search operation and investigation are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents.
