European champions Spain defeated France 2-0 to book their place in the FIFA World Cup final with a dominant performance in Dallas.
Mikel Oyarzabal gave Spain the lead in the 22nd minute, calmly converting a penalty after Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal inside the box.
Spain remained in control throughout the match and doubled their advantage when Pedro Porro found the net, leaving France with too much to do.
France’s defence struggled to match Spain’s intensity. Several of their key players failed to make an impact, while Digne endured a difficult afternoon after giving away the opening penalty.
Despite trying to mount a comeback after Spain’s second goal, Kylian Mbappe and his teammates were unable to break down the Spanish defense. Unlike their famous fightback in the 2022 World Cup final, France could not recover this time.
The victory sends Spain into the World Cup final for only the second time in their history. It also marks the third straight semifinal in which La Roja have defeated France.
Spain will now play in Sunday’s final as they aim to add the World Cup title to their European Championship crown, while France’s hopes of lifting another World Cup trophy come to an end.
