Norway secured a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 with a hard fought 2 to 1 victory over Ivory Coast and will now face Brazil. Ivory Coast dominated much of the opening half but Norway took the lead against the run of play when Antonio Nusa curled a brilliant effort into the top corner. Alexander Sorloth missed a golden chance to double the advantage before Torbjorn Heggem was denied by Amad Diallo’s goal line clearance. Diallo then produced one of the goals of the tournament, combining with Nicolas Pepe before weaving through the Norwegian defence and finishing superbly to level the score. Just as Ivory Coast looked the stronger side, Oscar Bobb set up Patrick Berg, whose cut back was calmly converted by Erling Haaland for the late winning goal, his fifth of the tournament.
