The preliminary post-mortem report of seven-year-old Muntaha Zahra, whose killing shocked Pakistan’s Sargodha district, has revealed significant findings as police continue their investigation.
According to the initial medical report, the child had multiple injuries on her body, and the cause of death was identified as a severed carotid artery. Authorities have also sent DNA samples for forensic analysis, with the final laboratory report still awaited.
Police said the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted before being killed. However, investigators stated that forensic examinations are ongoing and the final findings will depend on the complete forensic report.
According to police, the main suspect, Muhammad Arsalan, was killed in an alleged police encounter, while the possible involvement of other nominated suspects is still being investigated.
On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Special Assistant Shoaib Mirza, accompanied by Sargodha DPO Sohaib Ashraf, visited the victim’s family to offer condolences and assured them that the Punjab government is closely monitoring the case and is committed to ensuring justice.
