A concerning revelation has surfaced regarding the involvement of government vehicles in drug smuggling activities. According to a report from City42, Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) vehicles have been implicated in these illicit operations, leading to an internal investigation by the company.
The Assistant Manager of Transport, Tauseef, is currently under inquiry for his alleged participation in smuggling activities utilizing a government vehicle. Further examination is being conducted to ascertain the use of a private number on an official vehicle, which has raised suspicions and prompted the investigation. The vehicle in question is registered under the name of LESCO with the Excise Department.
Moreover, the investigation extends to other cases associated with LESCO, including the provision of government vehicles to former project director Farid Mehboob and allegations of petrol smuggling. To oversee the investigations, LESCO Chief Shahid Haider has established a committee, with the General Manager Technical serving as the committee head. The committee also includes the Director of S and I and the Deputy Manager of Finance, who will act as members.
