KARACHI: New revelations surrounding alleged drug trafficker Anmol alias “Pinky,” widely described in local media as Pakistan’s so-called “Cocaine Queen,” have intensified scrutiny over how she allegedly operated for years despite repeated claims of police awareness and past arrests.
The case has also triggered debate over whether elements within law enforcement and legal circles may have indirectly enabled her rise in the narcotics world.
According to reports circulating in Pakistani media, Pinky reportedly left her home at the age of 14 after developing an interest in modeling and acting before later becoming linked to the country’s underground drug trade.
Reports claim she later married a lawyer allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking, a relationship that reportedly introduced her to the illegal drug business and a luxury lifestyle fueled by easy money.
After divorcing the lawyer, she allegedly married a police officer, raising further questions over whether influential connections helped shield her activities from scrutiny for years.
Investigators believe Pinky gradually expanded her alleged network, eventually involving her brothers in the operation while emerging as a central figure in the business.
Authorities suspect she was transporting or arranging the movement of narcotics between Lahore and Karachi and may have built one of the country’s most sophisticated drug supply chains.
The controversy deepened after reports emerged claiming she had previously been arrested by Punjab Police nearly five years ago but was later released after allegedly paying massive bribes. Those claims, however, have not been officially confirmed.
The accused recently made headlines after a joint operation by police and intelligence agencies in Karachi’s Garden area led to her arrest.
However, scenes following her court appearance created fresh outrage on social media and raised uncomfortable questions about the treatment she received while in custody.
Observers noted that the suspect was not handcuffed during her court appearance despite facing serious narcotics allegations. Videos from the court premises showed Pinky walking confidently ahead while investigating officers followed behind her.
Images circulating online also showed the accused sitting comfortably during interrogation, fueling public criticism and speculation that she may possess sensitive information involving powerful figures.
An alleged audio clip attributed to Pinky has also surfaced online in which she can reportedly be heard threatening an officer who contacted her for questioning. The authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified.
The case has now evolved beyond narcotics allegations, with many questioning how an alleged drug network could continue operating openly for years without meaningful intervention from authorities.
Analysts say the biggest fear within official circles may not simply be the narcotics case itself, but whether Pinky could reveal names of influential clients or alleged facilitators if investigations deepen further.
So far, police and security agencies have not publicly responded to allegations regarding possible protection networks or claims of preferential treatment. The investigation remains ongoing.
