Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the technology giant of using her image on television packaging without her consent.
According to a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, Samsung allegedly used a photograph of the pop star’s face prominently on packaging for several television models sold across the United States.
The lawsuit claims the packaging was designed to “improperly capitalize” on Dua Lipa’s fame and commercial value in order to promote and sell Samsung products.
The legal filing includes allegations of copyright and trademark infringement, as well as misappropriation of the singer’s image and likeness.
According to the complaint, the disputed image was taken during Dua Lipa’s performance at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival, and the singer reportedly owns the copyright to the photograph.
The lawsuit states that the singer first became aware of the issue in June 2025 after fans on social media began sharing photos of the packaging and referring to it online as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.”
The complaint also highlighted social media reactions from fans, including comments suggesting they would purchase the television specifically because Dua Lipa appeared on the box.
Her legal team further alleged that Samsung ignored repeated demands to stop using the image and failed to respond adequately to cease-and-desist notices.
The BBC reported that it contacted Samsung for comment, but the company had not publicly responded at the time of publication.
Dua Lipa, one of the world’s biggest music stars, has several major commercial partnerships with global brands including Puma, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent. She has also collaborated with Apple, Porsche and Chanel, and recently became a global ambassador for Nespresso.
Her latest album, Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
