22-year-old police constable suicide has shocked many and raised serious concerns about mental health in the police force. Constable Sheroz Afzal Ansari, aged 22, ended his life by shooting himself at his home just months before his wedding.
The young police constable suicide victim was part of Battalion No. 7 of the Punjab Constabulary and was serving on security duty at the MPA Hostels in Lahore. His sudden and tragic death has left his family, friends, and colleagues in deep sorrow.
After the incident, Ferozewala police moved the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Further investigation is in progress to determine the reason behind the suicide.
This tragic event follows a similar incident last month when Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar took his own life in Islamabad. Reports revealed he had been facing severe stress and had visited a psychiatrist before his death.
SP Adeel Akbar was known for his professionalism and dedication to duty, but his request for leave was reportedly not approved despite his mental health struggles.
These consecutive tragedies highlight the growing issue of emotional stress and pressure within the police force. Experts and psychologists are now urging authorities to provide mental health support, counseling, and stress management programs to help officers cope with job-related challenges.
