Mahmeer Taniu encounter case has shocked everyone in Karachi. Hair transplantation expert Mahmeer Taniu was brutally killed. He was a medical technician from Khanwahen and lived in village Tuniya Baqa Shah. On October 16, he came to Karachi to visit his sick friend Pir Muhammad Taniu at Dow Medical University Hospital and to buy supplies for his hair transplant clinic in Khairpur.
Mahmeer stayed at his brother’s house in Karachi, who works in the traffic police. On October 19, he left home saying he needed to buy clinic items. He had around 10 to 15 lakh rupees in cash. He never returned home that night. His phone was on but he didn’t answer. The family waited, thinking he was busy.
On October 21, his brother received a call from Edhi Home, Sohrab Goth. They said his brother’s body had been lying there for three days. Police claimed he was killed in a shootout. When the family went to the police station, they were told he was a dacoit. A fake FIR was shown, but the arrested suspect said he didn’t even know Mahmeer.
The family believes the police took his money, killed him, and faked the encounter. Mahmeer Taniu encounter case is now under public demand for justice. His family urges the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and Supreme Court to take notice and ensure justice for Mahmeer.
