41,000 Pakistanis Get Subsidized Electric Bikes and Rickshaws

The federal government has announced electronic balloting under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme, giving thousands of citizens a chance to own affordable electric bikes and rickshaws in Pakistan. This marks a big step toward cleaner and more cost-effective transport solutions.

Electronic Balloting for Electric Bikes in Pakistan

Federal Secretary for Industries and Production Saif Anjum inaugurated the digital draw on Wednesday, under the supervision of the Engineering Development Board (EDB). Over 269,000 applications were received, and through the computerized system, 40,000 electric motorcycles and 1,000 electric rickshaws were allotted across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Applicants can check the results on the PAVE Online Portal using their CNIC or application ID. Officials confirmed that the process was fully transparent and monitored by a dedicated committee.

Subsidy on Electric Bikes and Rickshaws

To make EVs affordable, the government is offering attractive electric bike subsidies in Pakistan:

• Electric bikes – Rs. 50,000 subsidy via bank leasing, or Rs. 80,000 for self-financed buyers

• Electric rickshaws – Rs. 200,000 subsidy through leasing, or Rs. 400,000 on self-financing

The vehicles will be delivered by OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), who will also provide warranties and after-sales services.

EV Policy 2025 and Green Jobs

The initiative falls under Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP 2025), designed to promote sustainable transport. Officials highlighted the expected benefits:

• $1 billion annual fuel savings

• 4.5 million tons reduction in carbon emissions

• 100,000+ green jobs in Pakistan
