US President Donald Trump unveils 20-point Gaza peace plan, backed by seven Muslim countries, proposing ceasefire, hostage release, prisoner swap, and a transitional “board of peace” to govern Gaza’s reconstruction.
WEBDESK — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday announced a sweeping 20-point plan aimed at immediately ending Israel’s war on Gaza and securing the release of all hostages, while charting a post-conflict roadmap for the enclave’s governance.
According to the White House, eight Muslim-majority countries — Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia — have already agreed to support the pact, signaling a rare moment of consensus in the region. Pakistan, though not a formal signatory yet, is said to be reviewing the terms closely.
Unveiled during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the plan proposes an instant ceasefire if accepted by both sides, followed by Israel’s withdrawal to pre-agreed positions and suspension of all military operations. Within 72 hours of Israel’s acceptance, all hostages — alive or deceased — must be returned.
The plan also requires Israel to release 250 life-sentence prisoners and 1,700 Gazans detained after Oct. 7, 2023. Additionally, for every Israeli hostage’s body returned, Israel will repatriate the bodies of 15 Palestinians. Hamas members who disarm and pledge peaceful coexistence will receive amnesty, while those seeking to leave Gaza will be granted safe passage.
Under Trump’s proposal, massive humanitarian aid will flow into Gaza “without interference” through the UN, Red Crescent, and neutral agencies, including support for rebuilding infrastructure, hospitals, and bakeries.
Central to the plan is the creation of a transitional “Board of Peace” chaired by Trump himself, alongside former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and other global leaders. This body would recruit and train a new Palestinian-led government free from militant influence.
