Solar net metering payments have been announced by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), bringing good news for consumers using solar power. According to reports, the company will now pay consumers for the extra electricity exported to the national grid. The payments will be made under the guidelines of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
Officials confirmed that consumers will receive payments based on the number of exported units. To ensure accuracy, verification and cross-checking will be carried out before the payment process. Consumers must visit their relevant LESCO offices to claim the amount, which will be handled separately from regular electricity bills.
LESCO has assigned divisional and revenue officers to inspect net metering connections. After inspections, cases will be prepared through a test check proforma by revenue offices. These cases will then be forwarded to the finance department for approval. Once cleared, consumers will be issued cross checks according to the value of exported electricity.
This step is a significant move for solar users in Lahore and nearby areas. It encourages renewable energy adoption and ensures fair returns to those investing in solar systems. With solar net metering payments, consumers not only save on electricity bills but also earn from contributing to the grid.
