Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended senior officer Sarfraz Chaudhry, who was leading the online gambling crackdown. Chaudhry was serving as Additional Director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
He had been spearheading investigations into online gambling promotions by some of the country’s most followed influencers. Recently, he led the arrest of YouTuber and content creator Ducky Bhai for his involvement in promoting gambling.
Chaudhry also issued strict notices to several other influencers, including Nadeem Nani Wala, Rajab Butt, and Iqra Kanwal. His investigations had widened and the next wave of the crackdown was expected to target popular figures such as Jannat Mirza and Mathira.
The sudden suspension has raised questions about the future of these cases. Observers say the move could slow down or even halt the ongoing campaign against gambling promotions on social media.
The FIA has not released an official statement explaining the reason for Sarfraz Chaudhry’s suspension. His removal from the post comes at a critical moment, leaving uncertainty around how the agency will pursue pending cases.

This suspension of Sarfraz Chaudhry feels like a major setback to Pakistans anti-gambling efforts. Its concerning that such a key figure is removed without explanation, especially as high-profile cases were underway. Hope this doesnt derail the crackdown entirely.
