TikTok influencer family found dead in a shocking case that has stunned Mexico. The bodies of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, 32, her husband Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, 36, and their children Gael Santiago, 13, and Regina, 7, were discovered inside a gray Ford Ranger.
Mexican authorities found the abandoned pickup truck in Guadalajara last Friday, August 22. The victims’ identities were confirmed on Thursday, August 28. The TikTok influencer family found dead case is now under full investigation.
Esmeralda, known online as Esmeralda FG, had 18,000 followers and over half a million likes. She often shared lifestyle and travel videos, as well as lip-sync clips to narcocorrido songs.
The family had recently moved from Michoacán to Guadalajara for work. Roberto traded vehicles and also worked in tomato farming. Police believe the murders are linked to his business dealings rather than Esmeralda’s online activity.
CCTV footage traced the truck’s movements to a nearby mechanic’s workshop. Investigators found strong evidence suggesting the family was killed at that site. Ballistic and blood traces support this theory.
Two men from the workshop were questioned but later released due to lack of evidence. Soon after leaving, they were kidnapped by armed men. Authorities confirmed three remain missing while one escaped.
The case has raised concerns about growing violence in Guadalajara, a stronghold of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Investigators continue to search for those behind the brutal killings.
