In a shocking development, Lahore police have arrested theatre actor Samar Rana after a 16-year-old domestic worker accused her and others of rape and torture.
According to reports, the incident unfolded at Rana’s residence in the OPF Housing Scheme. The girl reportedly started working there on August 8, and within a week, she was allegedly subjected to a horrifying ordeal.
The victim’s FIR, filed by her mother, claims that on the night of August 14, a man residing in the upper portion of the house gave the girl a drugged drink and allegedly raped her. The following morning, Rana’s employee reportedly drugged her again and assaulted her, later calling four other unidentified men who allegedly continued the abuse over the next two days.
Shockingly, the FIR states that the girl was kept drugged and confined in the house, where the suspects reportedly took photos and videos of the assaults. Rana allegedly threatened and physically assaulted the victim, hitting her in the stomach and warning her to remain silent.
The young girl managed to escape on August 18, but fear kept her from speaking out. It wasn’t until August 23, when her mother noticed her injuries, that the police were informed.
Following the FIR, Nawab Town police registered a case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Samar Rana, her employee, and the four unidentified men. Law enforcement raided Rana’s residence and arrested her, while efforts continue to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
This case has sent shockwaves across Lahore, highlighting serious concerns about the safety of domestic workers and the need for stricter protection measures.
