Lahore, December 20, 2024 – With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of the passing of Syed Khalid Hassan, who tragically succumbed to heart failure. In August 2024, we proudly announced his new role as GM Sales South at Aik News, but now, we mourn his untimely demise.
Khalid was recently employed at Walee, but his spirits were dampened by the persistent salary issues from previous media houses. His final months were overshadowed by a deep sense of depression, a consequence of the financial struggles that plague many news channels in Pakistan today.
The media landscape in Pakistan has been challenging, with numerous news channels unable to sustain the financial burden of salaries. Many of these channels have been acquired by real estate magnates who attempted to manage them similarly to their real estate ventures, leading to the downfall of several news outlets.
Khalid’s closest friend, Faraz Bashir, shared poignant words about their friendship that began in their early media days, painting a vivid picture of the bond they shared.
