Lahore, currently ranked as the most polluted city in the world, is facing a severe air quality crisis. In response, a 3-year-old girl named Amil Sukhera has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against the rising smog and air pollution in Punjab. The petition, filed through prominent lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar, states that the Punjab government and the Environmental Protection Department have failed to control air pollution effectively.
The petition highlights that air pollution has already reduced the average life expectancy by 5.5 years, posing a serious threat to future generations. Amil Sukhera has urged the court to compel the Punjab government to provide a clean and healthy environment and ensure legal action against smoke-emitting vehicles.
In response, the court has taken immediate action, issuing notices to the Secretary of Environment and other relevant authorities, calling for swift action to address the pollution issue.
