Faisal Waqas, a seasoned journalist with over 11 years of experience, has recently joined Aik News TV as the Content Head of Digital Media. His extensive career includes prominent roles at various media outlets, where he has significantly contributed to the digital media landscape.
Before his current position, Faisal Waqas served as team leader and content head at GNN, Dunya News, Daily Times, Business Plus TV, Daily Pakistan and 92 News for digital media.
Faisal played a key role in establishing several digital platforms, including Daily Point, Lahore Mirror, Uttho Pakistan, Media Bites and Dubai News TV. His expertise extends beyond digital media content; he is also the producer of Aik Podcast, contributing substantially to the growth of digital journalism.
Faisal Waqas has attended numerous training sessions on a wide range of topics, including Data Journalism, Digital Security, News Writing and Reporting, Feature Writing, Newsroom Management, Gender-Based Violence Reporting, and Investigating Misinformation.
He played a key role in other trainings for managing social media content, addressing community guidelines and copyright issues, and optimising content for search engines and social media platforms.
In his previous role as Social Media Manager (Web Content Editor) at Daily Times-Media Times Ltd., Faisal Waqas developed and executed comprehensive social media strategies and campaigns for several major media outlets, including Daily Times, Business Plus TV, Sunday Magazine, TGIF Magazine, and Aajkal Newspaper.
He also led social media teams at various media organizations, collaborating with marketing, sales, and the Punjab.
In an exclusive interview with Media Bites, Faisal Waqas outlined his strategic plans for enhancing Aik News TV’s digital media presence. “Since starting my role, I have developed a variety of content designs related to societal issues and launched a podcast,” he said.
He also shared that Aik News TV’s digital media sector has experienced a remarkable twofold increase in viewership, as confirmed by analytics. Both YouTube and Facebook viewership have grown across Pakistan since his arrival.
Regarding plans, Waqas mentioned that he has scheduled several training sessions for the TV OSR staff. These sessions aim to equip the team with the skills needed to optimise content for YouTube and Facebook algorithms.
“This initiative is designed to help Aik News TV’s team masterfully curate and distribute content, ensuring maximum visibility and impact in the digital realm,” he added.
