Resham, a well-known Pakistani actress, revealed the shocking reality behind her unexpected departure from the film industry during a recent open interview on Ahmad Ali Butt’s podcast.
She accused Syed Noor, a well-known director, of damaging her career by placing Saima in her place.
Resham said that Syed Noor’s conduct altered after he fell in love with Saima, whom he eventually married. She believed that Noor purposefully put Saima in Urdu films, which were Resham’s territory, and limited her to minor roles or song performances.
The actress recounted a humiliating episode in which Syed Noor humiliated her on set, doubting her casting in films, while the producer gave her an early payment to work in the same movie. She opted not to blame Noor, recognizing that he brought her to the business and deserved respect.
The actress also talked about her feuds with fellow actors Reema and Meera, as well as her personal life, which included marriage. Her remarks have prompted a debate about the hurdles women face in Pakistan’s film industry.
The actress admitted that she had made some questionable professional decisions, such as taking jobs in substandard films and giving underwhelming performances. However, she pointed out that every actor makes mistakes, and she is one of the few who freely confesses it.
Resham also described a time when she felt insulted by Syed Noor on a film shoot. She described how, during a shoot, the filmmaker questioned her place in the profession in front of the team.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the film’s producer intervened and offered her an early payment to continue working on the movie, leaving Syed Noor visibly distraught.
