Security guard Muhammad Taha is recuperating in the hospital after suffering a stab wound to the stomach, an ordeal that forever changed him as he witnessed his colleague’s tragic demise.
Muhammad Taha was with Faraz Tahir, who was on his first day at work, engaging in conversation about their shared Pakistani heritage when chaos erupted at Bondi Junction shopping center on Saturday. Joel Cauchi’s stabbing spree claimed the lives of six individuals.
Taha recalled the moment of terror as they heard screams and saw people running in panic. Amidst the chaos, they encountered a woman lying on the floor.
As they approached the assailant, Cauchi targeted them upon noticing their security guard uniforms. He attacked Faraz first, stabbing him in the chest, before turning towards Taha and inflicting a wound to his stomach.

Despite being injured, Taha focused on aiding Faraz, unaware of his own injury until later.
In his time of need, Taha called his best friend, Muhammad Fahad, also a security guard at the mall, who rushed to their aid. Fahad provided essential first aid, ultimately saving Taha’s life.
Taha expressed deep gratitude towards Fahad, acknowledging his pivotal role in his survival.
Reflecting on the tragedy, Fahad shared his sorrow over the loss of lives and the harrowing experience that remains etched in his memory.
Taha learned of Faraz’s death three days after the incident, a painful realization that left him speechless and deeply affected.
Taha extended appreciation to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns for granting him permanent residency, expressing his desire to serve the country.
He advocated for similar recognition for Fahad, emphasizing his deservingness of such acknowledgment.
The ordeal has left Taha profoundly changed, his thoughts lingering on the suddenness of the tragedy and the loss of his colleague, Faraz, whose aspirations and familial stories were abruptly cut short.
