The lifeless body of a 22-year-old French woman was uncovered in an abandoned church within northern Italy’s Aosta Valley over the recent weekend. Police sources indicate that she had been on a quest for a haunted house believed to harbor spirits.
Before departing from her residence in a village near Lyon, the French woman had confided her plans to family members, according to statements from a police spokeswoman in La Salle to CNN.
Law enforcement agencies are considering various possibilities surrounding her demise, including the notion that she might have been attempting a TikTok stunt related to a ghost-hunting challenge popular on the social media platform in France.
Alternative theories being explored include the prospect of a “consensual homicide,” a ritualistic sacrifice, or an ill-conceived social media prank enacted within the desolate confines of the church.
Authorities are actively seeking a young man who was last seen accompanying her, alongside investigating two other missing persons cases in the vicinity that may be linked.
Eyewitnesses recall seeing the woman and a male companion dressed in attire reminiscent of “vampires.” Descriptions paint a picture of her appearing pale and “emaciated,” while the man exhibited characteristics of dark hair and olive-toned skin, with one witness likening her to a “walking corpse.”
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered fatal stab wounds from what investigators believe to be a camping knife, causing her to bleed to death, according to findings from medical examiner Roberto Testi.
Additionally, she bore two gunshot wounds to her neck and one to her abdomen, speculated to have occurred post-mortem. Notably, traces of blood had been meticulously removed from the crime scene. No evidence of a physical struggle was discernible.

Adjacent to the woman’s body, authorities discovered a package of pink marshmallows and groceries believed to have been recently purchased.
She was clothed in beige leggings and a sweatshirt concealed beneath a long dark coat. Remarkably, she possessed no identification documents or cellphone at the time of discovery.
Local prosecutor Manlio D’Ambrosi revealed ongoing inquiries into the presence of a burgundy-colored van captured in surveillance footage near the abandoned church in the preceding week, yet additional details remain undisclosed by a spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office.
