PESHAWAR- A blast near a school and bank on Warsak Road in Peshawar left seven people injured, including three children, in an incident targeting police personnel. The explosion, occurring at approximately 9:10 am, resulted from the detonation of concealed explosives, according to local authorities.
Lady Reading Hospital received two critically injured children, aged between 7 to 10 years, among the casualties. SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi disclosed that the Machnigate Police Station’s mobile vehicle, engaged in routine patrol, was the intended target of the attack.
“No arrests have been made yet, but efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible,” stated Abbasi, assuring that the investigative team is analyzing CCTV footage related to the incident. Superintendent Police Arshad Khan, present at the scene, confirmed that the blast occurred at 9:10 am, emphasizing that the explosives, weighing 4kg, were concealed in a roadside cement block.

A search operation is underway in the vicinity, with authorities considering the possibility of extortion as a motive behind the blast. SP Arshad Khan refrained from prematurely identifying the target, stating, “It would be premature to say who was the target.”
In response to the incident, police and Rescue 1122 teams swiftly reached the Babu Garhi area. Rescue officials reported damage to the glass of two vehicles and nearby structures due to the explosion’s intensity. Mayor Metropolitan Zubair Ali condemned the incident, describing it as an attempt to disrupt peace and order, particularly near educational institutions.
