Man poisons wife, children due to financial woes in Lahore

In a painful incident that occurred in Lahore’s Shahdara Town, a man forced his wife and children to swallow poisonous pills due to poverty.

According to media reports, the ill-fated incident occurred when the man failed to bear the pressure of financial problems and decided to act in this way.

According to police, the man poisoned his seven family members – his wife and children. However, with the help of early medical treatment, the whole family was rescued and is said to be out of the danger zone.

Fortunately, the City Division Police was quick in responding to the incident, the family was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment. Both the police & medical staff came running and the rapid response probably helped in the saving of several lives.

In his statement, the man stated the reason which led him to that act and it was a rather sad prospect. He said, “I do not have a grain of ration in the house to feed and I have not paid rent for seven months, I am fed up with the poverty that is why I decided to poison my wife, children, and myself.”

The police are now analysing the event in more detail to offer the appropriate assistance to the family and try to avoid similar cases.
