Lahore (Media Bites): Black magic continues to be a part of Pakistani society, and its practice has not decreased over time. The drama series ‘Girhein’, currently airing on Geo Entertainment, portrays the practice of black magic, sparking controversy.
The series is under fire on social media for showing acts of envy along with explicit depictions of black magic rituals. A clip from the drama has gone viral, showing a woman piercing needles into a doll and reciting incantations, which supposedly harms another woman.

As soon as the clip aired, viewers criticized the channel management, questioning how such content could be broadcast on national television. Some labeled it as haram (forbidden in Islam), while others demanded an outright ban on the drama for showcasing such scenes.
Several users argued that the show encourages the destruction of households and should be taken off air immediately.
The cast of the drama includes Behroze Sabzwari, Shehryar Zaidi, Beena Chaudhary, Azra Mohyeddin, Hisham Khan, and Sehar Afzal. ‘Girhein’ is aired daily at 7 PM on the popular channel Geo Entertainment (Har Pal Geo).
