Lahore (Media Bites): After a crushing defeat against England in the Multan Test on home ground, Pakistan’s cricket opener Ahmed Shehzad advised the national players to watch the famous Bollywood movie Lagaan.
In a video on his official YouTube channel, Ahmed Shehzad criticized the Pakistani players, stating that Pakistan’s decision to prepare a batting-friendly pitch against England demonstrated a defeatist mindset.
Taking aim at both the board and the players, he remarked that players should watch Lagaan to understand what passion truly means, adding, “The Pakistan Cricket Board has to spend money out of its own pocket, but you people have no regard for the country’s honor.”
In a sarcastic tone, Shehzad said, “Will we only find bowlers like Kachra from Lagaan, who managed to dismiss the English players? Or do we not even have someone like him because our spinners are too busy with tea breaks?”
He further criticized the team’s performance, saying, “Every team that comes to our home ground is ringing us like a temple bell, and we are just watching. We suffered a historic defeat to Bangladesh for the first time, and now we’re displaying poor performances against England.”
Shehzad concluded by emphasizing the need for changes in the team, stating, “We can no longer fool the nation through social media. Selectors and the chairman must give young players a chance.”
