There’s a brand new Instagram story to check out on the social media platform – and this one has been designed with the spirit of Ramadan in mind.
The first ever Instagram Ramadan camera effect is called ‘Lantern’, and it’s been designed to ‘encourage members of the Instagram community to share their Ramadan celebrations and acts of kindness in a fun and creative way’, according to a statement from Instagram.
This new filter is available to all the users via Instagram stories and offers a unique look to the users.
The ‘lantern’ effect adds a dim yellow-orange light with crescent moons adding a slight bokeh to the image.
The feature is especially introduced for the holy month of Ramadan to encourage the users to share their greetings and traditional pictures in the blessed month.
The camera effect coincides with the launch of Instagram’s #MonthOfGood, their first ever Ramadan campaign, which calls on the global Instagram community to celebrate and share kindness. Users are being asked to share their moments of kindness and celebration using the new camera effect and tagging their content with #MonthOfGood.
“Kindness does not have to be a grand gesture. In fact, small and unexpected acts can have a huge impact on someone’s day,” explains Samer Jamal, Strategic Partner Manager of Instagram MENA of the campaign. “We can’t wait to be inspired by the acts of kindness – big and small – shared by the Instagram community this Ramadan.”
As reported by Instagram, from 16th to 14th June last year there were over 15 million posts regarding the Holy month of Ramadan.
Instagram through this new feature is allowing users to share kindness and celebrate the month of peace globally.
