Sarfraz Ahmed is banned for 4 ODI matches and Shoaib Malik has taken his place. His was banned because of the racist remarks he gave to Phehlukwayo while they were playing. Sarfraz Ahmed was charged with an offence under the ICC’s anti-racism code.
Sarfarz is back in the homeland and facing a lot of criticism from sports’ critics and experts. Shoaib Akhtar also criticized him as said This [Sarfaz incident] is not acceptable as a Pakistani. In my opinion, he [Sarfraz] did this in the heat of the moment. I think he should apologize publically.”
Earlier Safarz Ahmed apologized upon his act on Twitter and also facing a ban of 4 ODI matches which should be considered enough as a punishment. Despite this, he is still facing a lot of negative comments from critics and TV hosts.
In his defence the Pakistani Skipper said in an interview upon his arrival from South Africa, he said “He [Shoaib Akhtar] is attacking me personally not criticising,” Sarfraz told reporters at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
“I accepted my mistake and received the punishment. I want to thank Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for handling this case and fulfilling requirements,” he added.
“I will improve myself and my performance in the future and I thank my supporters for their backing.”
On the other hand, Pakistani media has not proved to be so much supportive of Shoaib Malik as a Captain. Yahya Hussaini is openly criticizing the performance of Shoaib Malik and favouring Sarfraz Ahmed a lot. This kind of situation puts one in trouble of separating right from wrong. Racism is one of the hot issues of today’s world and those who are representing Pakistan on International surface should be careful about their image and what they are saying. On the other hand, the media needs to be more careful with what they are portraying
