Actor, writer, director and a filmmaker: Sarmad Khoosat, the man behind the iconic Pakistani drama “Humsafar”, and the revolutionary film “Manto” on the controversial poet Saadat Hasan Manto’s life is now working on two films, the first of which is a Punjabi film starring Eman Suleman is now being shot in Lahore, and according to Sarmad, “Lahore will play as a character in this film, unlike a backdrop in earlier released films.”
He spoke to Entertainment Pakistan and revealed that “I’m working on two films. The first one is a bad ass kind of a feature film, the shooting for which will start in November. As for the second film, the mood and genre is something that the audiences would love to watch and the shooting will begin sometime around March next year.”
Khoosat also exclaimed that the model turned actress Eman Suleman would be playing the lead, alongside veteran television actress Samia Mumtaz, Arif Hasan and Ali Kureishi, all in pivotal roles. The film will be the first to release under the banner of “Khoosat Films”.
The untitled film is being directed by Sarmad himself, while his sister Kanwal Khoosat will handle the producer’s role. A newcomer from NCA, Nirmal Bano is writing the screenplay whereas the debutant band “Sakin” will provide music for the film.
