Moeed Pirzada says goodbye to Dunya News


Moeed Pirzada, one of the most credible and one of the most senior anchor of Pakistan and the face of Dunya News Television, has resigned following a ‘big’ salary cut, sources told to a media website.

The management of Dunya TV has slashed the salaries of all their key anchors by 35% which was not acceptable by Moeed Pirzada and finally has tendered his resignation with a one month notice. He is doing a show ‘Tonight with Moeed Pirzada’ on Dunya news prime time slot 8:00 am – 9:00 on weekends (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) and was a good rating puller.


Moeed Hasan Pirzada is a Pakistani-British political commentator, geostrategic analyst, and a television news journalist. He has interviewed many politicians around the world and also written columns for national newspapers such as Dawn, The News International, Daily Times, Friday Times and for different blogs.. He has also written for Dubai-based regional paper Khaleej Times. His columns have appeared in major Pakistani papers.

As a TV journalist, he has interviewed Pakistani and international decision-makers including Benazir Bhutto, David Cameron, Hamid Karzai, Mahmood Abbas, William Dalrymple, Jaswant Singh, Richard Holbrooke, Mike Mullen, and British politician George Galloway. He has covered the strategic dialogue between US and Pakistan as well as several talks between India and Pakistan including the meeting of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf with Indian Prime minister Manmohan Singh at the Non-Aligned Summit in Havana in 2006. Pirzada had also moderated Clinton’s first controversial interaction with TV anchors in October 2009, when Clinton had remarked that if Pakistanis do not want the Kerry Lugar Bill aid then they should boldly reject it.
