Female Uber Captain: Can we still be considered independent, when we are still enslaved by our lust?

I had a somewhat peculiar incident, recently, when I called Uber and saw that my captain was a female driver. When my ride reached, I asked the woman that whether I should sit on the front seat or the back seat? Although she did give me the permission to sit in the front seat, I still sat on the back one.
After few moments of awkward silence, she broke the silence with her extremely astonishing words. “You are the first man, who sat on the back seat, despite the fact that I granted you the permission to sit in front. In our society, it’s very rare, that men refrain from taking advantage of women like me” She said.
She further told me, how so many of the people she picks, intentionally sits at the front, and when she starts the car, they try to touch her with their elbows. However, it does not stop there, she said that such people even call and message her at night, due to which she has to block their numbers, and thus, lose customers.
I, at that moment, had so many questions to ask our society. Why can a woman not breath here, without the eye of the patriarchs of our society watching her like an animal watches its prey? Why do we think that it is our birthright to make hurdles in the path of a woman who wants to be the breadwinner of her house? Why can’t our society let her earn, without imposing sanctions on her? Can’t she have her own reasons to do a job or the word ‘reasons’ was just put in the dictionary for men?
I don’t understand that why can men not fulfill their needs of satisfaction from their wives, why do they have to find opportunities out of that boundary? When they harass a woman, do they not realize that what comes round goes round? Don’t they think that same can happen to the women of their families?
Her story brought tears into my eyes, she told me that her father is almost blind, her mother works at people’s houses. She lives in one room and had no money to buy a car of her own, so she drives for someone else. She has to give rent for her room, along with taking care of the expenses of her family. In order to reach these requirements, she has to work 14 hours a day.
This strong woman is such an inspiration for our nation.
In the end, I just want to request men that if you cannot encourage such spirits, at least don’t increase the level of difficulties for them, they are still dealing with a lot.
     Please give it a thought.
