Mahatir Bin Mohamad born July 10, 1925 becomes eldest elected leader at age of 92 after winning majority constituencies. He had served Malaysian prime ministers office from 1981 to 2003.
During Mahathir’s tenure as Prime Minister, Malaysia experienced a period of rapid modernization and economic growth and his government initiated a series of bold infrastructure projects.Malaysia became Asian tiger. Mahathir was a dominant political figure, winning five consecutive general elections.
Official results showed the opposition Pakatan Harapan “The Alliance of Hope” had secured 113 of the 222 being contested, including some which have never before been taken by the opposition.
Oath taking ceremony will take place today(Thursday May,10) and Mahathir announced two day holiday to cheer his supporters.
