Finally, Salman Khan has been granted bail in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case and has been released from the Jodhpur Central Jail this evening. The actor, along with his Hum Sath Sath Hain co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre was accused of killing two blackbucks during the shoot of the film in 1998. While all the others accused were acquitted, Salman was convicted in the case and was sentenced to five years in jail. The actor was granted bail on Saturday, after he had spent two night in the Jodhpur Central Jail.
While most of the A listers remained tight lipped on the matter, veteran actors like Jaya Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha among others expressed their support for the actor. Earlier in the day on Saturday, Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo co-star Sonam Kapoor too took to her Twitter account to lend her support to the Dabangg star.
Sonam shared an adorable picture of the two of them together and captioned it writing, “You are the best! Always by your side.”
Earlier, Salman’s other co-stars Sonakshi Sinha and Jacqueline Fernandez among others had visited Salman’s residence in Mumbai. While Saif, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali had left Jodhpur soon after being acquitted, Salman’s good friend Preity Zinta had rushed to Jodhpur to meet Salman in jail on Friday.
