The Punjab government once again has proved its mettle after continuing its superb growth rate in the education sector. ‘Alif Ailaan,’ a nonprofit organization working in the field of education in Pakistan since 2013, in its 2017 District education rankings have declared Punjab leading the way in two of its critical range of indicators.
First, out of the provinces, Punjab leads in Education Scores, at 70.01, with KP coming in second at 57.69. This shows that Punjab has made significant progress in ensuring that children learn well. Secondly, Punjab also leads the other provinces in that its system is relatively more prepared to provide education to primary and secondary age children as committed in the SDG 4 (Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning).
This does not end here as a total of 12 districts have scored 100 percent on electricity availability, and include 11 from the Punjab. Then, 33 out of 36 districts in the Punjab score 100 percent for water availability in middle schools, and also in middle school infrastructure, Punjab leads at 92.66 with eight out of top 10 districts and just two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It is worth noting that while other scores are based on self-reported data by the provinces, the Education Score is calculated through independent, third-party data collected by ASER (Annual Status of Education Report).
Well, after all these credible and significant information, the tweets from Imran Khan automatically looks out of context. The Punjab government has over the years endured that these patterns continue to remain the same which is why Alif Ailaan has also recognized these efforts, especially in their education scores.
