Gilgit-Baltistan is famous for its serene beauty but its food is equally delicious; it is just that a majority of people have not got a chance to taste it. Now, Mamtu De Hunza is providing that opportunity for people in Lahore. As Some of the students from Gilgit-Baltistan have made an attempt to introduce the traditional food of GB, by building a cafe’ in the old and famous- Anarkali food street, Lahore. Determined to add more variety and flavor to the Anarkali food street, Mamtu De Hunza cafe is not only attracting people to taste the traditional food of Gilgit-Baltistan but doing so, it is also playing an important role in promoting cultural diversity.
Now, food lovers Lahoris do not need to travel all the way to GB to taste Mamtu (Dumplings), Dawdoo (Soup), Arzok (Folded cake), Shabsharo (Meat-bread) and Tumoro (Green-tea), all of these items are now available at Mamtu De Hunza.
The internal setting of Mamtu De Hunza makes it more enchanting as it has wooden floor and roof, and then the artistic decoration of the walls serves as cherry on the top. For a moment it appears to be an old Desi home in a village but then the dangling sound of chandelier, hanging above your head brings you back to the time.
Apart from providing best suited food to fight cold weather the chief executive officer (CEO) of Mamtu De Hunza, Farjad Hussain is motivated to give an environment of home away from home to all the students and professionals of Gilgit-Baltistan in Lahore.
