Two days back, some pictures and a video; in which a Traffic warden in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is blackening an image of a woman generated a hot debate in social media. The conservative Islamists are in favor of this crackdown. They consider it to be immoral and immodest thing that Islam has prohibited. On the other hand people having progressive and liberal tendencies stood against them. They see it as an act against women, vigilantism and moral policing.
KP police removed men images as well but with rifles against women whose only face make them immoral. The other faction in the debate had the point of view that such images comes under truck art for which Pakistan is famous all around the world and this act of moral policing is devaluing it.
Operation against the immoral images on trucks in KP also got attention of public because recently in DI khan, a city of KP a girl was forced to walk naked in public. Some influential people were allegedly behind this heinous crime. And when the victim’s family tried to register a complaint the police did not respond aptly.
This makes the decent efforts of KP traffic police objectionable, nonetheless a great majority of people keeps on ranting the slogan of ‘change’ in KP especially in police but the above mentioned incident shakes one before giving a white chit to KP police.
