Jamshed Mahmood Raza popularly known as Jami used to live in America but he left USA some twenty years back and came to Pakistan to further his professional career in film making. He has produced some outstanding movies like Moor, which was nominated for Oscars in best foreign language category. He won a number of international film festival awards for Moor.
Jami recently tweeted that due to the failing political and religious situation in the country he is leaving the country for good. “My kids will not see this mess,” he tweeted.
The hopelessness of Jami has discouraged a lot of people in Pakistan because such hopelessness will speedup the process of brain-drainage. No doubt that Pakistan is going through religious and political turmoil but it does not mean to quit the country rather it intensifies the need of staying back at home. Just like if someone’s mother gets sick it does not mean by any way to leave mother on its own.
People like Jami who belong to the field of art can turn to be true assets for the country as their contributions in Arts bear the potential to bring a positive tangible change in society. It would be highly unethical for Jami to leave the country when it needed him most.
