The telegraph has appointed Aki Mandhar as its chief operating officer, the role had been vacant since June when Nick Hughes took the position of Chief Executive
Mandhar will be taking responsibility for the commercial content, newspaper production and circulation, events and commercial operations.
She was recently the managaing director of OMD UK, it is yet unclear who will be replacing her at OMD.
She has also been the managing director at MediaCom’s entertainment division Ted, and managing director of MediaCom’s employer brands arm Career and general manager at TMP Worldwide/Monster.com, where she led the agency’s commercial arm.
Mandhar’s appointment comes just days after the publisher appointed Chris Forrester, formerly the country manager of Spotify UK, as its first chief revenue officer.
Speaking of her appointment, Mandhar said: “I am delighted to have joined The Telegraph, particularly at such a crucial time, when they are diversifying revenue streams and continuing to truly deliver high quality journalism. I look forward to being part of the business as it continues to move into the future.”
Hugh added: “It’s wonderful to welcome Aki to The Telegraph. Her wealth of experience and industry knowledge make her a key addition to the company and she will play a major role in the commercial development of our business.”
